Royals Farm System Improving?

The Royals have four out of the top 50 prospects in baseball today, as ranked by MLB.com. That tied for first best out of any major club with the Rays and Rangers who also had four.

The four who made the list:

• Moustakas 3B – #32
• Myers C – #33
• Crow RHP – #41
• Montgomery LHP – #43

So you don’t see any of our guys up towards the top of the list but at least there are several on the list. You would also think Arguelles would be considered a top prospect.

While we have some prospects I’m still not that convinced that we are making drastic strides in our farm system. When I look at our Omaha squad, who from there is going to make a difference down the road? Or even the rest of the system? The majority of the Omaha team is older than most triple-a teams. Are we moving in the right direction? We won’t really be able to know until five years from now when we see what kind of results we are getting.

But at least we have some prospects.
